The Student Self-Isolation Guide: Keeping Fit During Lockdown

The importance of keeping active whilst in self-isolation or lockdown is essential in maintaining both a healthy body and a healthy mind. Many people will be struggling with their mental health over the next few months – and exercise has been proven to help increase your ‘happy hormones’ and assist in eliminating any mental health issues. With this in mind, we have created a self-isolation guide to keeping fit from the safety of your own room!

1. Follow James Smith on Instagram
The first recommendation we have is to ensure that you are engaging and following with the correct type of content on social media. With this in mind, James Smith is a 30-year-old online personal trainer, with the fastest-growing following (and known for his no-nonsense and swear heavy tips and advice). So, following him is definitely a good start! His Instagram handle is @jamessmithpt.

2. Try Joe Wicks’ FREE P.E lessons
As of Monday 23rd March, Joe Wicks hosts a free workout live on his YouTube channel (solely aimed at kids, but it’s good for people who only partake in light exercise). He believes that exercise is an amazing tool to “make us feel happier, more energised, and more optimistic” – therefore, helping with any self-isolation blues that you may be having. The workout is suitable for all ages and you don’t need any equipment – just tune into his YouTube channel at 9am each morning for a 30-minute, fun workout. You can subscribe to his YouTube channel here.

3. Free ‘Own Your Goals’ 30-day trial with Davin McCall
